IS A FRENCH BULLDOG AGGRESSIVE?

Like any other dog, a French Bulldog can also be aggressive on certain occasions. Frenchie is known for its sweet playful, clownish, who is living in a small body but with the same attitude and therefore it would not be fair if it weren’t a little aggressive.

Usually, French Bulldogs get along with each other fine but in some cases, they express a certain amount of anger towards the dogs of the same sex and well-behaved manner and are also much attached to its owner but after all, it is a bulldog whenever they feel threatened, jealous, or provoked. This level of aggression is just limited to barking and growling and they very rarely attack other animals or pets. This situation can be avoided if a Frenchie dog is trained in a way at a very young age to not fight.

Also as it is thought that male dogs are more aggressive than females, the reality is quite opposite. In many cases, the little female puppies are very stubborn, disobedient, and aggressive. Another characteristic of a Frenchie is that they think they are the owner of the house and like to be pampered and therefore get aggressive when enough attention is not paid. They also get territorial for their owner and can become a little aggressive if they feel threatened.

French Bulldogs are considered to be extremely stubborn and independent thinkers and therefore, the owner is expected to keep a watch on the dog. There some signs which show that the dog has become aggressive and needs to be taken care of which include-

  1. Excessive barking during which there are long periods of barking continuously.
  2. Fear is a very huge factor in this breed as a sign to show aggression and thus whenever the owner feels like the dog is scared they should help it to open up to new and positive experiences.
  3. When the dog is in pain they may take the route of aggression to inform their owner that they need help.
  4. Gender is also very important in determining if the dog is aggressive and typically in this breed, the male dogs can be more aggressive.
  5. When they are possessive of something like their house, food, or even the owner they would naturally try to guard all of it and this will be noticeable in their growling or barking behavior.
