1) Honda City: ₹ 12.4 – ₹ 14.65 lakh

The fifth-generation City is sold in three trim levels and gets three engine-gearbox options to choose from. The City gets a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that makes 98bhp and 200Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This diesel version is said to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 24.1kpl. The new City is also longer, wider and shorter in terms of height than the old model. Features include automatic climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and WebLink compatibility, leatherette upholstery, electric sunroof, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, keyless entry with push button start/stop, Alexa remote capability and Honda Connect telematics system with 32 connected car features, ABS with EBD and brake assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera, auto headlamps and wipers, hill-start assist and vehicle stability assist.

2) Hyundai Verna: ₹ 10.66 – ₹ 15.1 lakh

The new Verna is sold in four trim levels and five engine-gearbox options. On the outside, the grille is new and bigger, flanked by new headlamps. There are also new alloy wheels, updated tail lights and a reworked rear bumper. The cabin gets a few updates in the form of wooden trim on the dashboard, restyled AC vents and a new colour theme for the upholstery. The Hyundai Verna comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque, paired either to a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic transmission. In terms of equipment, it is loaded with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Blue Link connectivity suits with 45 features, including voice commands for in-car functions, wireless mobile phone charger, Arkamys audio system, ventilated front seats, sunroof, hands-free tailgate opening, full-digital instrument cluster, ABS, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, 6 airbags, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring system and front parking sensors.

3) Honda Civic: ₹ 20.75 – ₹ 22.35 lakh

The BS6-compliant Honda Civic diesel is sold in two trim levels: VX and ZX. Under the bonnet of the Civic lies a 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 118bhp and 300Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Civic, in BS6 guise, is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 23.9kpl. It gets features like automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs, powered driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric sunroof, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, lane watch camera system, leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers and ambient lighting. Styling wise, the Civic looks sporty, with its sharp-looking headlights, broad grille, coupe-like roof line and those C-shaped tail lights.

4) Hyundai Elantra: ₹ 18.7 lakh

The new Elantra diesel is sold in two variants: SX MT and SX (O) AT. Gone is the 1.6-litre diesel engine, and in comes a new BS6-compliant 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 113bhp and 250Nm of torque and mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. In terms of features, it is equipped with Blue Link connected car tech, Blue Link connected car tech, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED headlamps, leatherette upholstery, cruise control, automatic headlamps, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, front parking sensors, ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, ESC, rear parking sensors and rear parking camera. Up-front, the new Elantra sports a wide grille, triangular headlights, a sharply creases front bumper and a stylish rear-end.
